Therapy for Children and Teens

Nurturing trust, calm, and emotional growth at every stage.

Supporting children and teenagers requires a thoughtful balance of developmental understanding, patience, and genuine attunement. Whether your child is learning to navigate big emotions or your teen is carving out their own path, I provide a safe, grounded space where they can feel seen, heard, and respected.

Therapy for Children

Therapy with children always begins with safety, comfort, and play. Building trust is foundational, so we start with gentle engagement and move into deeper clinical work only when your child feels completely comfortable and ready.

Drawing on specialized training in child mental health, I frequently support young clients with:

  • Emotion Regulation & Anxiety: Learning to navigate intense feelings, worry, and big behavioral reactions in age-appropriate ways.

  • Expressive Communication: Building language and practical tools so kids can articulate their inner world and needs effectively.

  • A Neutral Sanctuary: Offering a gentle, non-judgmental space where they can express themselves freely and feel validated.

Partnering with Parents: When working with children, I believe it is essential for parents and guardians to be involved in the process as much as possible. This collaboration ensures that conversations, insights, and coping strategies learned in therapy can naturally continue outside of sessions at home.

Therapy for Teens

Adolescence brings a powerful shift in development, identity, and personal pressures. When working with teenagers, it is vital that they feel in the driver’s seat, honouring their need for autonomy, privacy, and self-determination.

  • Teen-Led Direction: Therapy moves at their pace, focusing on the goals, pressures, and relationships that matter most to them (such as academic stress, friendship dynamics, self-esteem, or family transitions).

  • Collaborative Privacy: I create a safe, confidential space where teens can speak openly. Parent or guardian involvement is thoughtfully tailored based on the teen's comfort and needs.
